Lake City with the Goff'sSubmitted by monty on Mon, 2006-07-31 11:30
Ann, Noel, Stephanie, Brian, Caleb, Claire, Stacy, and Christian all came to Lake City for a week of Colorado Fun. They spent the week goofing off in the area (4wd, rafting, hiking, etc.) We came to meet up with them and do a hike as well as hang out. It was great to see the whole gang and we had a blast. Here are the photos from the 14er hike and just hanging at the condo. 14er Climb :: Handies PeakSubmitted by monty on Mon, 2006-07-31 11:25
While we were in the Lake City area visiting the Goff clan, we decided to tackle another 14er. Handies Peak from American Basin was the goal. This is a relatively easy hike. It only took 2 hrs 25 min to go round trip. We did run on the way down, but its still pretty short and easy. The flowers in American Basin are amazing this time of year. Here are the photos. 14er Climb :: Uncompahgre PeakSubmitted by monty on Mon, 2006-07-31 11:19
We headed to the Lake City area over the weekend to hang out with the Goff clan. While there we took Stacy & Christian on their first 14er climb. Uncomahgre Peak is fairly straight-forward with a very good trail. There was only one tricky part near the top. We made it up in pretty good time. Congrats on your first 14er Stacy & Christian! We headed to the hills to tackle another 14er over the weekend. Mt. Columbia was the goal. This one was very hard for both of us. It had a gain of 3000 ft. in less than 2 miles. This meant a lot of straight up hiking. In some places it was "one step forward, 1/2 step back". We made it before the afternoon storms rolled in. Here are the photos. Lori competed in the Danskin Triathlon at Aurora Reservoir on Sunday. She had an AWESOME race! She placed 219 out of 2307 and in the top 10% of her age group. Excellent job Lori! We are proud of you... Here are the photos. Aspen WeekendSubmitted by monty on Mon, 2006-07-10 10:29
We made a tip to the Aspen area over the weekend to visit Rob & Kerry. Thomas & Stefanie came along for the ride. Unfortunately it rained all weekend. But we had a good time anyway. On Saturday we rode the Smuggler Mountain trails near Aspen. Here are the photos. Sunday we hiked the Lost Man Trail near Independence Pass. Here are the photos. 14er Climb :: Huron PeakSubmitted by monty on Tue, 2006-07-04 08:19
We took the Dorsey's on their first 14er hike on July 4th. We left town super early (4:00AM) to beat the oncoming rain. We hit the trail at 7:00AM and made it to the top in ~2 hrs. The trip down was much faster. This is a spectacular 14er to hike. From the top you have a view that is amazing. And the valley you climb through is also fantastic. Here are a few photos from the hike. Fishing the Arkansas near Salida, COSubmitted by monty on Tue, 2006-07-04 08:14
Rich took us to his favorite fishing spot on the Arkansas river on his Birthday. We caught a couple of fish and even fewer photos. Biking Keystone ResortSubmitted by monty on Sun, 2006-07-02 08:41
We headed for the hill to take on the trails of the Keystone Resort. The Dorsey gang came along for the ride! Here are the photos. Iron Butt Saddlesore 1000Submitted by monty on Sun, 2006-06-25 05:41
Monty took a little trip to Provo for lunch over the weekend. The IBA (Iron Butt Association) has an award for a motorcycle rider who completes 1000 miles in less than 24 hours. Sound simple right? Let's see, 1000 miles at 75 MPH should only take 13 hours. Piece of cake... Try it sometime. Here are a few photos I took on the way. Here is a very brief rundown of the trip: |
