Mountain Biking MoabSubmitted by monty on Mon, 2008-10-20 09:14
We loaded up the Vanagon and headed to Moab, UT for a weekend of mountain biking. This was Mark's first trip to the desert to ride. We started on the Slick Rock Trail which is just east of Moab on the rocks. The trail is painted on the rocks, so you just follow the white lines. It's amazing how your tires just stick to the rock!
After riding Slick Rock we headed up to Arches Nat'l Park to see the sights. It is a very beautiful place. There are over 2000 cataloged arches in the park. We stopped at Double Arch to enjoy the natural beauty of the rock.
On day 2 we took a shuttle van to the top of Hazard Pass to ride down the Hazard Trail and Porcupine Rim trails. It was 30 miles of downhill fun. Almost the entire trail was single track, rocky and fast. We had a total blast, and were pretty wiped out by the time we got back to Moab.
The final trail we rode was the Sovereign Trail. It is a great single track trail just North of Moab. It was hot, rocky and challenging.
What a great weekend. Can't wait to go again! |
